DISPATCH

Early 2000s, I reckon. Chatting with strangers on IRC. It was the infancy of the now-pretty-shit social network internet world. Talking to a person in Brisbane about music, and they suggested I listen to a band called Dispatch. "Have a listen to Two Coins or The General - they're amazing." or somesuch was said.

I did, and I loved it. But I didn't really expand my listening beyond those two songs. Until it was easy to with Spotify a few years later. (Have a read about my opinion on that here, though.)

That's when I discovered the song Only The Wild Ones. It's a magnificent piece of uplifting music. It starts gentle, builds, and adds layers of delightfulness. One of those songs that inspires engagement with the world, with the wilderness, with our connection to the earth.

Changed his name to a name the birds could pronounce.

What a wonderful concept.

Have a listen to this song when you get the opportunity. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

See you in the wilderness one day, I hope.
